Monster cables certainly are a much better cable to use. Having said that allow me to justify my statement. Jon Tompson listed several qualities about cabling. He is quite correct on the qualities necessary in making a good connection. those attributes are necessary for getting a solid signal to any device. One item he mentioned is that cables are neither analog nor digital. These terminologies refer to how the signal is sent and received not how it is carried. So it confuses me why he would not like monster cables, every quality he mentioned is what monster cable does do rather well.
Every audio and video signal, in reality, is just electricity. The more signal we lose, manipulate or filter the less quality we see and hear. Monster cable allows for the least amount of signal loss, giving us better picture and sound. There is another factor to consider, type of cable, not just quality of it. A “digital” cable or HDMI will give a better picture than a Standard RCA. This is because it filters less of the signal. any time filtering takes place signal is lost. Using a low quality HDMI cable will have better results on a HDTV then a High quality RCA.

Cabling really does affect what we see and hear. In televisions we lose color quality when not using the proper cable. This is very important, color quality is what gives us detail to the picture. From what i have seen most people believe that resolution alone is the deciding factor quality of picture. This is not the case, variations of colors is just as important, if not more so, for rich, detailed pictures. Consider a painting, on one hand we have a brush of average size but 1000 colors to work with. On the other, we have a small brush but only 10 colors of paint. which painting could get more detail, and which would we prefer looking at?
The same principles apply when it comes to audio systems. Using improper cables gives less variety, detail and volume. Audio systems use a lot of power, if the cable that is used does cannot handle the load needed it can damage the system. Getting to little power when needed can be just as damaging as to much. this is evident when we hear a crackling or distorted speaker, this usually happens because not enough power is getting to the speaker. this problem can usually be solved by a more powerful receiver and better speaker wire.
The practical side is this, buy how you use. High end monster cables do very little for a standard television, however using “out of the box” cables on high end equipment is hurting the quality you purchased. Monster cable is by far the most cost effective cable available. Other cables of similar quality would cost much more. I am big believer in Monster cable, not because of some logical reason but because i have heard and seen the difference it makes, and it sound good.
