The variety of digital cameras is absolutely overwhelming. Camera manufacturers keep on thinking of new ways to grab your attention, whether it be an integrated Video/mp3 player, extra large LCD displays or even cameras that are so thin that you don’t notice the weight when carrying them.
There have been countless occasions when I would appear with my huge Canon 20D camera while a few girls would take their tiny pocket-sized cameras and laugh.
Although the resolution of those mini-cameras may be the same, the size of the sensor in my camera means that sharper pictures can be taken in dark environments, as well as looking sharper when taking outdoor pictures.
If you really want to go bargain hunting, Hong Kong is a nice place to go, since cameras are usually 30% off the High-street prices in the UK, with great accessories and you can even find bargains on 2nd hand cameras.
The thing is that eBay has made it unnecessary to go to exotic places for buying cameras.
One important thing is that you should always buy what your wallet can afford. I probably blew a whole month’s living costs on my camera, but I guess it was a graduation present for myself.
